Interesting Work Week Weather

An active jet stream will result in large temperature swings and stormy weather this week.

Get ready for an active weather week ahead for eastern Carolina. The jet stream will be riding up from the Gulf of Mexico and through the Mid-Atlantic region. At this point it appears eastern North Carolina will be on the warm side of the jet stream and that would mean milder temperatures with showers and possible thunderstorms...especially Tuesday through Thursday. We could see the mercury approach 70 degrees on Wednesday....and there is a potential for severe weather as well if all factors fall into to place. The jet stream will be rather energized as tons of arctic air will pour in out of Canada from the north...and abundant Gulf of Mexico moisture will be pumped up through the southeast into the Carolinas. This should energize an area of low pressure as it lifts through the region mid-week. It does bear watching. The exact track is still being figured out by the models. In any case next week will be an active one.
