A Chilly November

Below normal temperatures greeted Eastern North Carolina during the month of November.

Last month was chilly across our area.  The average temperature during November is just over 54°.  Of course, that temperature is derived by combining all the daily highs and lows during the month.  The first part of November averaged well above normal but it all changed after the 15th when much colder air arrived.  By the end of the month the final average ended up at 50.5° or 3.7° below normal.  Much of the area also had two days with snow showers, an event almost unheard of in November.  The chill has continued into the first week of December.  The latest forecast from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration indicates a cold December is expected for much of the East Coast.
