Winter Chill To Remain
It appears that winter decided to beat the calendar this year.  November was 3.7° below the long-term average for the month and more cold air is on the way.  The  latest 6 to 10-day forecast suggests below normal temperatures across the eastern half of the United States.  The latest December forecast from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration also showed much of the East Coast with cold temperatures for the month.  All of this would suggest a greater chance for snow and ice than normal over our state.  Eastern North Carolina typically gets very little snow or ice in December but it could be different this year.  We have already seen two bouts of snow showers in November so it surely wouldn't surprise me that at least a little more snow falls over the next few weeks as the cold air keeps surging out of Canada into our area.  I'll keep you updated on our chances during the next few weeks.
