It's one thing to see this kind of cold this early in the season...it's another when we see two snow events in the same week. Marvin Daugherty told me that he has seen it snow only a handful of times in November. For me living up north most of my life....this weather is "normal". I thought living in the south I would see a gradual segue of colder weather into winter. So far this late fall..that is certainly not the case.
Yesterday (Friday) both New Bern and Hatteras picked up a trace of snow....a new record for the date. A trace...a new record...this indeed is a rare event. But good news..if you don't like snow...there is no "white stuff" in the forecast for the upcoming week...and that's good news for the holiday travel this week..mainly cool and dry through Friday.
For those of you who like snow...it may be a while before we see a taste of that again..since it seems like our pattern is shifting to more a mild one as we head into the later part of next week into the weekend. In fact...aside from colder weather Tuesday and Wednesday...temperatures will be well into the 50's Monday...Thursday..Friday..and Saturday..when our chance for rain increases again.
We'll have to trade the heavy parkas for lighter jackets parts of this week...more seasonable for this time of year.
