Temperatures across much of Eastern North Carolina dipped below freezing last night. Upper 20s were reported at nearly all locations along and west of Highway 17. Closer to the coast temperatures generally stayed well above freezing with lows in the middle to upper 40s along the Outer Banks. Beaufort almost made it to freezing but feel 2° short at 34°. Friday night will be chilly but not nearly as cold with lows staying above freezing. Much warmer air moves in on Saturday with highs reaching the lower 70s inland and upper 60s on the coast. A weak cold front will come through the area on Sunday but temperatures should still reach the 60s. Election Day is still a few days away. For now it looks like the mild weather will continue but a few shower could develop on Tuesday.
