A Taste Of Fall

We should see a nice period of sunshine and pleasant temperatures into early next week.

A strong cold front moved through Eastern North Carolina on Wednesday evening finally clearing the skies and ending the stormy conditions.  Much of area had thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon with several counties having severe thunderstorm warnings.  There were 24 reports of hail with gusty winds.  There have been two unconfirmed reports of tornadoes, one in Beaufort County and the other in Martin County but no damage has been reported by late evening.  By Thursday morning,  today's stormy conditions will be a faded memory.  Sunny skies and dry air will make for a comfortable afternoon with highs in the 70s.  The dry air, clear skies and light winds will make way for several chilly nights.  Lows will drop into the upper 40s well inland while coastal locations will remain in the upper 50s.  Sunny skies should last through the weekend and it may be a good time to get some of those outdoor chores completed, especially those activities that you dreaded during the hot summer.  Welcome to fall in Eastern North Carolina.
