Storm Will Pound The Coastal Area

A developing area of low pressure will cause strong winds and heavy rainfall across Eastern North Carolina.

A strong low pressure area is rapidly increasing winds along the coastal area of North Carolina.  There have been indications the storm could take on tropical characteristics tonight or tomorrow as the storm approaches the southeastern portion of our state.  One thing is for sure whether the storm finally gets a tropical name or not.  It looks like we will receive a significant rainfall along with gusty winds.  The winds had increased to 30 to 40 mph across coastal areas by early Wednesday evening.  Wind gusts could approach 50 to 60 mph by Thursday morning along the coast and 30 to 45 mph across inland areas.  The storm should move inland on Thursday evening and the winds should slowly relax.  The good news is that the weekend looks beautiful with sunshine and highs in the lower 80s.
