Thanks to a rendezvous with Hispaniola...Tropical Storm Hanna was never the same after it started it turn to the north. And lucky for us. Had Hanna continued on a west and northwest path instead of doing a loop... we could have been dealing with a much more serious situation. Granted....wind gusts from 48-72 mph and 1 to 4" of rain is nothing to sneeze at. It certainly beats the other scenario. A slow moving dangerous hurricane on the same path that Hanna took. And all of a sudden we have a breather. It appears sprawling high pressure will keep Ike to the south..perhaps affecting the Bahamas..Cuba..and south Florida...before re-emerging in the Gulf with another possible strike in the northern Gulf Coast. And just like that...Josephine fizzled well out in the Atlantic. But we're not done yet. Although the peak of the hurricane season is September 10th....we have another 6 weeks or so of the 2008 Hurricane season. More fireworks could be coming in the weeks to come. |
