   Why does it feel sometimes the weather gods are out to get you. I've heard a lot of folks say that the rain is avoiding their house or neighborhood...and it seems there's some kind of meteorological "bubble" over their neighborhood that deflects the showers and thunderstorms around them.

   I've even heard some folks say that when cold fronts approach the I-95 corridor...they fizzle out. Or a perfectly structured line of showers and thunderstorms seemingly weaken...split...die what have you. There are meteorological reasons for this. Keep in mind we remain in moderate drought conditions across eastern North Carolina. We're approaching the "dog days" of summer...so a lot of cold fronts that head for our region typically stall...washout...before they get to the coast. And it's the time of year when we get the "hit and miss" variety thunderstorms. For one viewer in Pamlico Beach...it's been "miss" with only .52" in the rain bucket for the entire summer! That was a couple of weeks ago...I hope conditions have improved.

   Living in Greenville...we had a nice shot of rain this past week with at least 2.50"...with higher amounts across Pitt county. In fact much of the WITN viewing area saw some decent measurable rain this past week.

   So hang in there eastern North Carolina...hopefully your "bubble" will burst as we head into late summer and early Fall.
