Rip Current Threat For Several Days On Area Beaches

Beaches Are Beautiful But Look Out For The Rip Currents

A beautiful weekend is on tap for Eastern North Carolina.  Temperatures will reach 90° inland with beach locations hitting the lower to middle 80s on Saturday and middle to upper 80s on Sunday.  There will be plenty of sunshine to go around for just about everyone.  Please be aware of the high rip current threat if you are headed to the beaches this weekend.  Swells from Hurricane Bertha, which is about 900 miles ESE of our coast, will cause higher than normal tidal action and rip current threats.  The storm is moving very slowly and will likely continue to cause problems on the beaches until the middle of next week.  Otherwise enjoy the sunshine and warm afternoon temperatures.
