Heat wave conditions will continue through the weekend across Eastern North Carolina. Skies will remain mostly sunny each day with only a slight risk of a cooling thunderstorm during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will approach record highs each day through Sunday with most inland areas reaching into the middle to upper 90s.
Beaches will remain slightly cooler with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Relative humidity levels will increase making the heat index rise to 105 degrees or higher each afternoon. Heat advisories may be necessary across interior locations by Friday afternoon. It wouldn't be a bad idea to water the plants and garden.
