Gentle Rain Brings More Drought Relief
A light to moderate rain brought some additional drought relief on Wednesday.
After a year of drought the past few months have brought significant rainfall to much of Eastern North Carolina. Wednesday's rainfall has not been that heavy but at least it continues the trend of near normal rainfall that we've seen since the first of the year. Unlike last spring when cold fronts brought very little moisture, 2008 has been much different. Many of the cold fronts in March and April brought severe weather to the area along with the needed rain. As we move deeper into spring and summer we should see less severe weather but the risk of showers and thunderstorms seem to be a good bet from time to time. It does not appear that a severe drought will return this summer.
