Drought Update

The last time Eastern Carolina got a healthy dose of rain was two weeks ago...And now severe drought conditions continue to creep back east.   Counties in a moderate drought include Carteret, Craven, Jones, Onslow, Pamlico, Beaufort, Hyde, Washington, Tyrrell and Dare.  The rest of us are in a severe drought with extreme conditions threatening to reach our western counties.

It gets worse...For the next week there is no significant chance of showers to improve our drought.  If you look at the long-term it is projected that our drought will persist though January of next year!
