WOW! Its been a really long time since its rained and people today have taken notice.
As the rain started falling in parts of the east today the phones were ringing off the hook in the weather center...
"WOW its pouring!" "Its RAINING!" "How much are we gonna get?" These were common phrases coming from the other end of the line.
I have to admit that even I was a little stunned earlier this morning. While having coffee a strange rumble filled the skies outside...it actually took a second for me to realize that it was thunder!!!
For the first time in a long time, I get to say get used to the rain. A plume of tropical moisture is working its way into the Carolinas, and will stay put for the next several days resulting in a lingering chance for rain. Much like we saw on Wednesday, some of the rain could be heavy at times. In fact, by the time all is said and done, some folks may pick up more than 3" of rain.
Some of the heaviest rain over the next few days will likely fall over the foothills and Piedmont where 5" is possible. Even though the heaviest amounts may not fall here, it is still good news. All the water that falls to our west will eventually flow into the rivers in the east. Hopefully enough will fall to bring them up above their record low levels.
Keep doing the rain dance and see you on TV...
