5 years, 1 month, 2 weeks and 4 days is how long I’ve been a member of the WITN family. What a rewarding experience to be with such a wonderful station for so long. I’ve grown from a mere Production Assistant in 2005, to a Director three months later, to a Promotions Producer in 2008. But on Friday July 30th 2010, I will be saying goodbye. My husband’s employment has been transferred to the Raleigh area, and I have been offered a Creative Promotions position at FOX 50 in Durham. It is sad to leave WITN, but I am excited about this new opportunity and relocating back to the area I initially called home for the first 18 years of my life.
During my time at WITN, I have witnessed national stories like the Lauterbach case and helped televise severe weather such as hurricanes and tornados. I have been a part of local WITN events such as the Seafood Festival, Children’s Miracle Network telethon, and Toys for Tots. I’ve even helped create the WITN Christmas Video three years in a row. What a treat that was! So many events I will miss…..
But what I’ll miss the most is the PEOPLE of WITN that I’ve become close to over the past five years. I’ll miss Lynnette Taylor and her crazy stories - she is truly the funniest person I’ve ever met, and has become a dear friend. I’ll miss Billy Weaver & Bill DiNicola with their sporty newsroom shenanigans. I’ll miss John Washington and his “strictly business” attitude. I’ll miss yelling to David Cowell in the next room every time I need something. I’ll miss seeing my friend Kim Tilghman every day. I’ll miss singing “Total Eclipse of the Heart” with Director Jennifer Faust. I’ll miss hanging out with the anchors and reporters. I’ll miss walking past the Christmas video creations on Ashley Stephenson’s old wall. I’ll miss Liz & Mark from Sales and the "face” they give me every time I request tickets to a game or show. I’ll miss Chris Mossman, who has increased employee moral dramatically after taking over as General Manager in 2007. And I’ll miss the 5,000+ Facebook fans answering my well-thought-out trivia questions.
There are many things I will miss, but I hope to come back and visit one day to see all my friends and get a glimpse of what life was like during the five years of my life that I called this place home. Goodbye WITN. I will miss you.
