I am personally an American Idol fan (which unfortunately appears on a station that’s not WITN). And I get frustrated when the fate of a contestant is put on hold due to the back and forth bickering between Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell. Their juvenile public display of hostility makes me wonder where the underlying cause of tension derives. It is no secret that there is “something” going on between the host and judge of American Idol. But what? What causes them to “go at it” so often during the show? And are they “going at it” when the cameras are off?
There are tons of rumors going around cyber-world and the entertainment industry regarding Ryan’s sexual orientation. He says he’s straight and likes to shop. I’ll assume he’s telling the truth, but I don’t know, and I personally don’t think anyone has the right to judge him. But obviously, a professional judge thinks he’s allowed to criticize and point fingers. Simon seems fascinated with Ryan as he is constantly drawing attention to him, and making homosexual innuendos. None of the other judges care or make crude remarks. The tension between the two is apparent. And it makes me wonder if that tension could be triggered by some sexual frustration.
I certainly am not making any assumptions about Ryan and Simon’s relationship. I just want to express my questions with the good public. There are some very ridiculous situations that I have pondered to be potential sources of the visible tension. None of these are the least bit accurate, but I know I’m not the first person to speculate these possibilities.
What if Ryan and Simon dislike each other because they are both successful alpha males?
What if Ryan is gay, and Simon despises Ryan because he’s homophobic?
What if Ryan has a crush on Simon? Or visa versa?
What if Simon is bisexual, which might also explain the tension with Paula?
Or… what if Simon has a secret relationship with Paula AND Ryan behind set, both scandals surfacing through bickering and smiles? After all, Ryan and Paula both told Simon in unison “Keep your hands to yourself.”
I don’t know what happens when the cameras are off. Only Ryan, Simon, and Paula know what goes on behind closed doors. All we can do is contemplate the cause for what we see.
