Day 20: Interview your Relatives
Your family history provides hints about what your genes might have in store for you. Talk to your relatives about any serious illnesses they've suffered. The U.S. Surgeon General has an online tool to help you compile your notes into a report that you can print for your doctor at familyhistory.hhs.gov.
Day 21: Call an Old Friend
Don't underestimate the impact that you and your loved ones have on each other. Reach out to someone you haven't talked to in a while and spend an hour rebuilding your bond. There are all sorts of studies out saying we need to reconnect in this age of e-mail, smart phones, and Facebook. Call someone and talk!
Day 22: Practice Saying No
No matter how busy you are, you must make time for yourself. If you don't you'll start to suffer from chronic stress which can lead to all sorts of health problems. The science behind it? Stress leads to an imbalance in cortisol (a fight or flight hormone) which can ruin your mood and energy. Sometimes you need to say NO to your colleagues, friends, or family for the sake of your health. Be good to yourself or you'll be no good to anyone.
