A man who once claimed he fathered the child of John Edwards' mistress now says in a book proposal that the former presidential candidate and senator of North Carolina is the baby's real father.
The New York Times reported Saturday that Andrew Young wrote in a proposal for a book that Edwards asked him to hide the real paternity of Rielle Hunter's child. The newspaper also reports that Young wrote Edwards told Hunter he would marry her after his wife died. Elizabeth Edwards has cancer.
So far, no comment from the Edwards camp. Whether what Young says is true or false, should Edwards address the allegations publicly? He's no longer an elected public official, so does he owe the public an explanation? Should the media pursue this story or lay off?
