One In Three NC Kids Are Obese

Can anything stop this dangerous trend?

A study from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation finds that one in three kids in North Carolina are obese.  Another study released today says the number of severely obese children in America has tripled in the last 25 years.

Can anything stop this dangerous trend?

I've watched friends and relatives with children employ different approaches to the diets of their children.  Some have been very strict, not allowing sugar of any kind.  Others take a less strict approach, allowing their children to eat not the best foods, but only in moderation.   I have also seen little children who drink soda.

What's your approach to what your children are allowed to eat?  When do they start making their own food decisions?

parents should be able to control their childs eating habits, not encourage them to eat more unhealty foods and get fat

I'm sure that the foods that Dave mentioned are not all that good for us, but in moderation, they are that bad either. It may well be that we have this obese problem to a great extent because most kids these days sit around on the sofa watching tv or playing games. Very few have any type of chore's or physical work they have to do. Kind of goes back to the parents, but since a good percentage are raised by someone else, who do we blame?

This isn't shocking because I bet that 1 in 2 NC adults are obese too. It's all of that greasy FRIED FOOD and BARBECUE that you people covet!
