Post Traumatic Stress Disorder...Some People Just Don't Get It

After my story aired I was shocked that someone had the audacity to leave negative feedback about the men who were brave enough to share their stories with me.

It takes a lot for me to get upset about comments people make about stories we choose to air, but I can't hold my tongue on this one.  Recently, I interview several Veterans who've served in the Vietnam, Operation Shield/Operation Storm, Kosovo and the Iraq War.  They so bravely shared their daily struggles dealing with one of the most common injuries of members of our armed forces when they come back from battle.  On WITN.com this is what one poster said.

What we don't need is another generation of veterans, or our so-called "heroes", feeling sorry for themselves. One was quite enough with the Vietnam vets.

I have to say, I was shocked and dismayed by this.  I mean this guy is criticizing these men for fighting for him to be able to say these things with his free speech!

You can hate this war, you can hate all war if you like, but to sit behind your computer and tell men and women who leave their families to fight in an atmosphere that can only be described as volatile and uncertain is beyond me.  And perhaps you aren't able to understand what they've been through or maybe you don't want to, but for goodness sake, at least have enough respect to let these men who are suffering through this disorder open the door and show people what it's really like to go to bed and wake up in a cold sweat because you think someone is attacking you.  Give me a break Rob!  If you want to say you didn't like the story I did or the way it was told that's one thing, but I'm standing up for these guys because they did me a favor by even agreeing to go on camera and share such personal information.
