NBC affiliate KXAS-TV had an interesting story this week, about the cost of text messaging. Text messages may cost you ten or twenty cents each to send, but if you are a prolific text messager, you probably have a plan that covers several hundred texts for a fixed price. In comparison to everything else on your cell phone bill, text messages may not seem like a lot of money, but some say the actual cost of sending a text message makes it the most expensive form of communication.
Cali Lewis of Greekbrief.TV says the amount of data being transferred is so minimal, that twenty cents per text is a ridiculous amount of money. "If I was to download a song, and a song is about four megabytes, using the same calculations, it would cost me $6,000."
Knowing how much text messages cost you to send compared to how little the cost the phone companies, will send fewer texts?
