Today's Most Important Issue

There are many issues that occupy our thoughts throughout the day. Not all of them are as serious as who will lead our country the next four years. And they shouldn't be.

For me, one of my most pressing concerns is what to do about my yard heading into the fall. I have centipede grass that is now into its second season and doing well. My concern is what to do now to get it ready for winter so it will be in good shape when spring and summer roll around again.

Now some of you may say who cares, it's just grass, ( In my case, some grass, some sand) we really need to focus the economy, the wars, gas prices, etc. And I agree, those are all more important issues. But here's something else I know. The little things in life are still important to all of us as well. We can't let all of the bad stuff stop us from just living.

Unfortunately, a new study says many of us seem to be getting bogged down by the pressures of the world. Stress levels are at an all time high.

With that new report in mind, I'm reminded of that familiar saying, "Take time to smell the roses."

In my case I've modified that saying a bit. I'm going to take time to enjoy the green grass...and figure out how to keep it that way for next year!

A few of the best things you can do for your yard is aerate, thatch and fertilize.
