How To Improve Our Schools?

What do you think should be done to improve your child's school?

Another school year is just around the corner.

There's no doubt many great things will happen in your child's school this year.  And there's no doubt there will be some unpleasant experiences and disappointment.

If you could help improve your child's school what would you recommend?  How would you help improve test scores?  How would you make the classroom a better learning environment?  How do you suggest boosting school spirit?

Let's hear it.  It's our kids future!

Thanks for the censorship. My comments were not hateful nor did they contain foul language. As usual not everyone gets a voice!

Editor's Note: Chuck, I'm not sure what the problem is. I went through two weeks worth of "blocked comments" and did not see anything in there from you. You may want to try to resubmit your comment.

More focus on the 3 R's. Stop trying to revise history. Enforce strict dicipline the kids don't get at home even if it means expulsion for bad behavior rather than ISS. Higher pay for teachers and a tough licensing exam, even if it means certain people can't pass it.

We love WITN so we decided that you can help us with our school consolidation probelems. Some of us really care for Jamesville High School and we don't want to go to Williamston and with the consolidation it's really hard to focus on our test scores because we are concerned about what is going to happen to our school. Even though some of us have been here longer than others we all have come to love and respect the halls of JHS. From my 8 years of experience in williamston I did not like it at all and now since I have been at JHS I have come to love it very much and don't want to see it go. Because the people and teachers are so much nicer and easier to get along with at JHS than williamston students & teachers because they act like they are better than evryone else so if you would kindly represent JHS in this consolidation problem we would truely appreciate it. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I just wish that the public school system would focus on education rather than brain washing.

Lets stop providing free education to the children of illegal aliens. That will free up more funds and make for smaller classrooms for all those who play by the rules.

A large part I've noticed in the school system involves those in charge. Many teachers I've seen are not dedicated due to exhaustion. People need to evaluate what they are doing, why they are doing it and if they can truly do it. Teachers are supposed to be able to approach and help kids from their own level- not where they kid "should be". The teachers need to be updated in their attitudes and procedures and supervisors need to be able to identify problems.
