Growing up in Pennsylvania, I became very used to the fact that we didn't have to pay sales tax for a lot of things including clothing. It wasn't until I graduated from college and moved to West Virginia that I realized sales tax on groceries or clothing! Let me tell you what, that extra money adds up! It was so frustrating each time I went to the grocery store and realized that I was paying an extra 5 or 6 dollars for the same things I could've bought in PA with no sales tax. Obviously, I soon got over this realization and paying the extra money for goods became a way of life. I'll be honest though and say since I lived so close to the Pennsylvania line, most of my clothing purchases were made in the good ole' Keystone State.
When I moved to North Carolina again sales tax was here, but this time I was prepared having already gone through the initial shock. I've gotta say I'm pretty excited for this weekend, even though I'm not going back to school I can still pick up a pair of new sneakers which I so desperately need (mine I just noticed are getting holes in the back heels). Perhaps I'll see you out there, well you and the rest of Eastern North Carolina as I imagine the stores will be packed!
Happy Tax Free Shopping!
