Making Miracles Happen

This is one of my favorite times of the year at WITN. We're all getting ready for the Children's Miracle Network broadcast to benefit Eastern Carolina's Children's Hospital in Greenville.

The broadcast this Saturday and Sunday benefits sick and injured kids from 29 eastern Carolina Counties. This is the 23rd year for the broadcast here on WITN. It will mark my 11th year of having the pleasure to participate.

Every year when I interview the "Miracle Children" and their families I learn something new. From little Davis Pugh of Greenville, who suffered from a rare form of cancer, Grayson Shreves of Lenoir County, who endured a sudden and mysterious illness, to Terrence Hooks Junior of Greenville, who has undergone numerous heart surgeries, these kids serve as my inspiration. And they all have one thing in common. They have benefited from the generosity of the people of easter Carolina.

If you have donated before you know how easy and meaningful it is. If you haven't, now is your chance to make a difference in a child's life. I hope you'll be inspired to give when you tune in this weekend and make this broadcast something you look forward to each year as well.

This telethon is great and all, but I was wondering if the Stanley Cup Finals game will be blocked out because of it on Saturday night? EDITOR'S NOTE: The Stanley Cup Finals game will be aired on our digital channel.

My son was born with spina bifida. Children's Miracle Network was there for him. He survived surgery to remove his fatty tumor when he was 2 months old. They helped me make it through it all. It truly is a miracle.
