I had a conversation a few months ago with Judy Baker. She runs the Volunteer and Service Learning Center at East Carolina University. Judy had a valid complaint: the only young people we see on the news are the ones accused of a crime. Judy argued, there are plenty of young people who are doing wonderful things who are more deserving of such attention. She would know. Her work with East Carolina puts her in direct contact with young people doing great things through volunteering.
Thus, the series "Young Heroes" was born. On WITN News at Sunrise, we highlighted the good works of four young people in Greenville. While they're deserving of praise, do you, the viewer, find stories like that interesting? I'm interested in your thoughts.
