Sisters

In my closet, you'll find a shopping bag with two frilly pink tu-tu's inside.  One is size 3T, the other 3 months.  They're waiting patiently for a sunny spring or summer day where two little girls can wear them and take some pictures, documenting their first year as sisters.

Anyone who has a strong bond with their siblings can appreciate how excited I am that my husband and I will have the chance to raise two girls.  As the youngest of four children, and one of three girls in my family, sisters have always been a huge part of my life.  Growing up, Colleen and Beth were my playmates, hair and fashion consultants, my role models.  As adults, they're my best friends.

So you can imagine I was overjoyed to find out we were having a second girl.  Honestly, I would have been just as overjoyed to have a boy.  Healthy is the most important thing in my book, followed by happy.

We weren't planning to find out if we were having a boy or a girl, which is what we did with Lauren.  However, after getting home from our ultrasound at 20 weeks, my husband says, "I think we should find out."  I was floored.  But after about five days, I was convinced, and we learned the exciting news.

It's been a lot of fun preparing for a second girl.  We actually can plan how we want to decorate the nursery this time.  I say "plan" because I'm still trying to find the time to really get that done. It's also been fun going through all the little clothes that Lauren wore when she was a baby.

We do have a name picked out but are choosing to reveal that only after our baby girl arrives.  Not too much longer to go....less than four weeks until our due date!  Before I know it, I'll be snapping pictures of two precious little girls in frilly pink tu-tu's, and knowing how special their sisterhood can be.
