Lauren is changing so quickly. I can't believe how much she's grown since she was born nearly four months ago, and how alive her expressions are! Her smile can light up a room!
Like many parents, Chris and I decided to get some portraits taken of Lauren to capture her growth during this first year. Never again will she change so rapidly over such a short period of time. We got a recommendation to try Tim Hester, a photographer in Winterville who says the bulk of his business is capturing cute kids on camera. So we made an appointment. Heading to Tim's studio, I was very excited, but nervous, too. After all, we were paying this person to take pictures of Baby Lauren. This girl can smile, but what if she didn't perform well? Would this be a waste of money? A waste of time? A waste of an opportunity?
My fears were well founded.
Lauren didn't really feel like smiling. No matter the goofy noises we made, goofy dances we did and just plain high-pitched groveling, she really just wanted to suck on her hand. We stopped after a few shots and fed her in hopes of her relaxing and having a little fun. That didn't really work. We proceeded with the photo shoot as Tim snapped away, saying he was capturing some good shots of her, which was true.
We were getting ready to wrap up when I asked about something Tammy, Tim's wife and lovely assistant, had mentioned over the phone: naked baby shots. Sure enough, nothing made Lauren happier than stripping her down and plopping her on her belly. The little sweetheart lit up like a firefly! For our next visit at six months old, we're starting with Lauren in the buff.
