Some Pins And Needles Waiting For Baby

A dramatic moment in an NCAA basketball game made my husband think I was going into labor!

I fell asleep with the TV on Thursday night and woke up before my alarm, just after midnight.  College basketball was still on, and a game was in overtime.  This was the dramatic game between Kansas State and Xavier.  If you saw the game or any of the highlights, you probably saw when a player from Xavier hit a three-pointer from well behind the three-point line at the end of the first overtime to send the game to a second overtime.  It was pretty impressive, so impressive, in fact, that I shouted "Oh my goodness!"  I said it loud enough that my husband, who was up late working in the office downstairs, heard me.  He replied, "Are you ok?"  The poor guy thought I was going into labor.

Yes, with my due date just a few days away, we are both curious, and truthfully, anxious about when the baby will arrive.   Even though we make weekly visits to the doctor's office, they can't say with any certainty whether the baby will come in the next five hours or the next five days.  "No predictions," the midwife told me Thursday.

So we continue watching for the signs of labor, thinking about gut feelings and seeing what our friends and family have predicted.  We set up a guessing game about when people think the baby will be born and what the sex will be, along with the baby's height and weight (You can set your own game up at www.expectnet.com).   Many people feel like the baby will wait until the calendar turns the page into April for this baby to arrive, though my due date is March 30.  We'll see!
