Why Isn't WITN Carrying the ECU/West Virginia Football Game?

My e-mail box is getting flooded with people asking some variation of the question.

Here's Terry Holland's response to the question:

WITN and ECU Athletics have a great relationship that works hard to provide coverage of ECU athletic events to Pirate fans in eastern North Carolina.  The availability of every ECU athletic event is subject to the conference television contracts of each home team and therefore the WVU and UNC games this season are controlled exclusively by the Big East and ACC television contracts respectively.

It is nothing more than a monopoly in the marketplace, which is illegal in corporate America.... So why can ESPN block our coverage???? Money has totally taken over everything!!! So what game did ESPN choose to show instead of this game????

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT ESPN HAS THE MONOPOLY ON ALL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL!! It is absolutely ridiculous that the home area viewing audience can not watch the wvu-ecu football game!! This is one of the biggest football rivalries around and it is just absurd that the "gods" at ESPN have deemed this game not worth showing to the television viewing audience!!!!!!!!!!!! It is just awful! Let's hope that ESPN releases it's ugly hold and let's us view next year!!!!!!!
