Why Are Jami Turner And Annette Newell On WITN?

ABC, CBS and NBC got their respective acts together and coordinated the broadcast of "Stand Up To Cancer" to air simultaneously on the three networks Friday, September 5th at 8pm.  Former Today Show host and current CBS anchor Katie Couric teamed up with Noreen Fraser, Laura Ziskin and many others to get this concept off the ground.  There are too many stars involved in the show for me to even start listing them so I won't even try.

Anyway, if the three networks could get together and coordinate a one-hour broadcast, it made a lot of sense for the respective stations in Eastern North Carolina to help promote the show on the local level.  My counterparts, Vickie Jones from WNCT and Don Fisher from WCTI suggested that we jointly promote the show and I enthusiastically agreed.  Graciously, Heather King, Annette Newell and Jami Turner got together to shoot a promo that should catch everybody's attention.  Our viewers are used to seeing Heather in promos with her on-air partner Jim Howard but I'm sure many were surprised to see her paired with Jami and Annette.  All three stations are airing this promo prior to the program and the trio recorded another appeal to air after the program to help solicit funds for cancer research.  Hopefully, it will help to bring attention to the show.  We all want you to take time to watch it.....whether you watch it on WITN, WCTI or WNCT.  It's that important.
