What’s in a name? In this case, two fewer letters. If you’re used to typing witntv.com into your browser and you don’t want to change, don’t worry about it! Witntv.com will continue to direct you to our website and all of our employee e-mail addresses will still work. But we’re excited to simplify everything as our site will now be “witn.com”. We had 291,538 unique viewers to witntv.com in May and over 2.2 million page views so obviously it hasn’t been too difficult for people to find our site. Even so, we’ve had many of you tell us how angry you got when you typed in “witn.com” and you were then directed to an off-shore gambling site. Even worse, if you sent me an e-mail to Chris.Mossman@witn.com, you would not get an undeliverable message and I wouldn’t get the e-mail. Very soon our technical folks will have it set up so that all WITN employees will be able to use the simplified e-mail address. It seems simple but we’ve missed a lot of important communication. Very soon, witntv.com will redirect to witn.com in the same way that we have other addresses redirect to our current address. Have you ever tried typing in witn.tv or witn7.com? Both redirect to our site. As do WeatherAuthority.tv, witndaily.com, CarolinaScanner.com and dozens of other internet domains. The first on-air elements featuring witn.com will start airing on the weekend of June 7th and 8th. On Monday we’ll begin changing the news and weather graphics and our folks will try to get “witn.com” to roll off the tongue. It’ll be a gradual process but it’s worth doing. As we all know by now, the internet isn’t going anywhere…. Thanks for reading my blog and thanks also for checking out witn.com
