The Beautiful Weather Takes A Short Break

After countless beautiful days across the east, we'll finally see a good chance for rain Tuesday into Tuesday night.

It's been a broken record. "After a chilly start another nice day for the east, with mild afternoon temperatures", has been a popular line of late, and why not, it's been beautiful. We've had an area of high pressure over us for several days, thanks to a traffic jam in the atmosphere. We had a trough of low pressure locked into the west, providing plenty of snow for them, and an early shot of snow for the Midwest. In fact areas of northern Iowa and Minnesota had close to a foot of wet snow. Over us, we've had a huge area of high pressure that extended all the way from Canada into the Gulf coast. To our east was a huge ocean storm that sent a large easterly swell into our coast resulting in mountainous waves. But the pattern is shifting. Things are finally moving along in the atmosphere so that means changes for us. A cold front to our west will move into western parts of the state tonight into Monday. An area of low pressure will develop in the Gulf of Mexico and ride up the front late Monday into Tuesday and Tuesday night. For us that means increasing showers into Tuesday and Tuesday night. There could be a rumble of thunder with the showers, but at this point it looks like a slight chance. The showers will quickly end by Wednesday morning, leading to a dry rest of the day. Expect a mild Wednesday, followed by cooler but dry conditions late week into next weekend.
