Tuesday was a great day to spend along the Crystal Coast, and that's exactly where I spent part of my day.
I visited with the Morehead City Noon Rotary to talk about the news business and learn a thing or two about what their organization does.
The MHC Noon Rotary is quite active along the Crystal Coast. The current focus of the group is on children, recreation/education and the elderly. The club sponsors an annual Friends of Harley fundraiser selling rafffle tickets for a Harley Davidson roadster. Each year they have raised approximately $35,000 which is dedicated to charitable work. The raffle has raised around $800,000 over the past 16-years. The members support the worldwide eradication of polio, the drilling of wells for clean water in global communiites that have none, scholarships to the local community college, the Boys & Girls Club of Coastal Carolina, the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels, Hope Mission, Rotary Park, Broad Street Clinic and up to 200 other local charities and needs.
It was a fun afternoon to talk news and charitable work. If your group or organization is ever in need of a speaker feel free to contact any of us here at the station. You can contact me by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
