Affair With Married Man Proves Costly

One woman found out wrecking a marriage isn't the only thing that happens when you have sex with a married man.

A jury here in NC awarded a woman in Guilford County nine million dollars from a woman who had sex with her husband.

The money is the result of an alienation of affection lawsuit.  North Carolina is one of a handful of states that allows jilted spouses to sue over affairs.

Do you think Elizabeth Edwards is paying attention to all of this?

Call me old-fashioned,but when I took those vows,I did'nt view them as a mere formality. What part of "'Til death do us part" do people not understand? If you're not going to be faithful, don't get married. I've lost count of the guys I've talked to who threw their marriages away because "I've met someone else". Heck,I meet "someone else" every day I go to work, but I don't have sex with them! Plus,I will never understand people who up a marriage and then marry their lover. A person who cheated on the last spouse will likely as not cheat on the next one! Or,as the old saying goes,"The man who marries his mistress...leaves an opening for that position!"

Paige, for the record, the ex-husband likely has to pay the wife a little thing called separation bed and board, where the husband pays his ex-wife because of his indescretion. Alienation of affection and criminal conversation was established so that "the other woman" will have her own consequenses for diliberately having sexual relations with married men and above all potentiall breaking up families. I am married myself with three children, and I work in a law office, so I see how traumatic this is when a marriage breaks up on account of infedelity. Yes, there is no excuse for the ex-husbands actions, but there is no excuse for her having an affair with a married man, and this same law applies to women that do the same thing. There are legal consequences to a cheating spouse, so the ex-husband likely suffered his own consequenses; as he should have been.

THIS IS ONE OF THE STUPIDEST LAWS I HAVE EVER HEARD OF. THE "OTHER" WOMAN WASNT THE ONE THAT WAS MARRIED - HE WAS. THEREFORE SHE SHOULD NOT BE BLAMED. HEY, IF HE DOESNT CARE NO MORE ABOUT THE FACT THAT HE'S MARRIED, THEN WHY SHOULD SHE? THAT IS JUST A WAY FOR THE JILTED SPOUSE TO WANT EVERYBODY TO FEEL SORRY FOR HER AND SAY "YOU POOR THING". WHAT AN EMBARRASSMENT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY USE THIS LAW. WHEN ACTUALLY NO ONE THAT HAS WON ONE OF THESE LAWSUITS HAVE EVER ACTUALLY RECEIVED ANY MONEY. DO YOU REALLY THINK ITS GOING TO STOP THE CHEATING???? NOWAY.

I considered this option when my husband and I separated following his affair with another woman, however I decided that it would not help the situation. It's difficult to accept that good people can make bad decisions when you are hurting, but it is so true. No, we did not reunite, but I don't want to make their lives more difficult...they both have to answer in time, but not to me; I am not the one that should judge them which is what I felt suing her would do. After all, she wasn't married - HE WAS.

I think this lawsuit is essential. Having being married for over 14yrs together with the significant other (husband) he cheated on me with an employee, his employee. He is the boss, i found out after he moved out of our home left me and the kids-My daughter visited him one weekend and the female acquiantance took my daughter out for a day at the salon!!!! All evidence was then exposed. I found out that this woman had a history with my brother-in-laws best friend. The best friends wife is the aunt of this womans son. There is a big twist to this whole saga-after thinking that me and my spouse could try counseling and having him take an hiv test he was still secretly talking to this woman on the phone.I caught him one night while i happen to not be home the cell phone was on his chest while he slept and the womans# was the last recent call he made at about 12:37 am... I am so relieved to know that there is a cure for this type of situation! I did all my research on what i can do!
