Now that Thanksgiving is here, there is no doubt what I am thankful for this year: the baby I am carrying. While I don't know if the baby is a girl or a boy, what his or her favorite color will be, or what he or she will want to be when they grow up, I already love this child and can't wait for the day we meet.
I am also thankful for all the warm wishes and prayers so many people have sent my way since announcing my pregnancy. While I'm doing everything in my power to have a healthy pregnancy, I am grateful for everyone's prayers for a healthy baby.
Now at 22 weeks along, I am thankful for maternity clothes! I am surprised at how much I love my maternity jeans; they are so comfortable! No buttons or zippers. If you eat too much at, say, a Thanksgiving dinner, no worries. They still fit fabulously. I am also thankful to the designers of maternity clothes who have made them much more fashionable.
I am thankful for my friend Virginia, who keeps me company walking the dog and exercising to stay in shape during the pregnancy!
I am thankful for my Grandma Lannon, my mom Margaret, and my sisters Colleen and Beth, for providing me with the best examples of moms I could ever wish for. If they thought I had a lot of questions for them now, just wait until the baby arrives!
I am thankful that my Aunt Carole is a brilliant pediatrician who will also be fielding lots of questions from me. Thank goodness that she lives just down the highway in Chapel Hill.
I am thankful for my husband Chris every day, but he has been even more incredible since we found out we were expecting. His help with the chores around the house and his understanding of how the pregnancy makes my wacky sleep schedule that much wackier has been wonderful. I am grateful that we can share our excitement (and fears) about the big changes about to take place in our lives.
Last, but certainly not least, I am thankful to God for blessing Chris and me with our baby. We know this is a prayer God does not grant to all couples, and we are so grateful that we get to experience the miracle of new life.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!
