A survey says the word or phrase that Americans find most annoying in conversational use is -- "whatever."

The popular slacker term of indifference was found most annoying by 47 percent of Americans surveyed in a Marist College poll.

Runners-up included "you know," "anyway" and "it is what it is."

I'm not exactly sure why we need to know what Americans find as the most annoying word. I'm not sure how it really has any impact on our lives, "you know."

"Anyway," "It is what it is." Oh, you probably found that annoying didn't you? "Whatever!"

Look, there's something I need to know. Was this survey completed before President Obama was elected? I'm betting yes because he starts virtually every statement with "look". Look, that's not the worst thing a president can do, but what's so annoying is that now half the people in the world are doing it. Look, is that really necessary? C'mon everyone, please stop overusing "look". It's annoying!!
