Recycling rules and regulations seem to vary from community to community...but one thing becomes universal across NC beginning October 1. Everyone will have to recycle plastic bottles.
A new law takes effect Oct. 1 that bans plastic bottles from landfills as a way to encourage recycling and reduce the amount of trash in the ground.
State recycling officials say there is a big problem with the law...there's no real way to enforce it. Chris Frazier with the Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance says state regulators won't rummage through people's trash.
Recycling officials say they "hope" people will comply with the spirit of the law.
Here's the question. Do you think NC should become more aggressive when it comes to recycling and pass some laws with real teeth and the ability to enforce them, or do you think the whole issue of recycling should be one of individual or community choice?
