Although spring has sprung across eastern Carolina....that doesn't mean an instant budding...growing and greening across the landscape. It doesn't work that way. When we segue from season to season the previous season always wants to get in a few last jabs. And that's occurring this weekend...with a chilly pattern. In fact freezing temperatures are expected in many locales tonight even down to the beaches of Onslow and Carteret counties. The reason these warnings were issued is because the growing season is technically underway for the immediate coastal areas. After a chilly start on Sunday....with lots of sunshine we will see temperatures rebound into the 60s for most areas. Sunday night into Monday morning is not looking as chilly as tonight with temperatures about 6-10 degrees warmer. Then it looks like we're in the clear next week as far as freezing temperatures as overnight lows much of the week will be in the 40s and 50s.
