Let’s face it, people. The world has known about the digital transition for YEARS. The media has shoved facts about the transition AND the date in the face of viewers so much that they should be able to repeat the DTV phone number in their sleep. Everyone should be ready.
For those who are not ready one week before the transition, there’s a strong chance they weren’t going to ready by February 17th. And by the time their signal does go out, they might realize that all those PSAs being drilled into their heads actually meant something.
However now due to Congress, those procrastinators actually get 4 more months to ignore our messages. And the people who are ready wish that everything would switch over so they don’t have to endure any more warnings.
The people who are not ready now probably won’t be ready on June 12th. That’s the truth. America is rewarding the procrastinators, and everyone else has to suffer. People won’t act until their signal is gone, so let’s flip the switch and save the stations some money!!
I realize that there is a reasonable chain of events why some people are not ready:  People are losing jobs - money is tight - converter boxes cost money - the government ran out of $40 coupons to assist because people didn’t cash in and no one tracked how many coupons were released and NOT redeemed.
BUT, if you requested your coupon months ago and redeemed it, you could have bought your box for 5 bucks and you would be ready!
In short, the title says it all:  Delaying the digital transition - Rewarding the procrastinators….potato - patato

Whoever wrote this has it right. What ever happened to taking responsibillity for ones self. The more of a "nenny state" we become, the more "nenny state" we will have to become. It's time to bring it to a screaming halt. If people who ignores the endless warnings, haven't done anything about it, too bad. If TV is below other things on their priority list, why should I care??

To Ace and Richard yes you're both right-on but keep in mind we're virtually living under a socialist state now with the exalted poobah...uhh, Obama, in charge. No I didn't want McCain but at least he wouldn't have lobbied for this rubbish, regarding the DTV extension. It's going to cost not only WITN but many other stations so much more money to keep both transmitters (analog & digital) burning in tandem for another 4 months. February 17 should've been the final ultimatum date for action, but it appears as though the libs that have the sheer numbers in office want to keep us on the government nipple (which means more taxes of course). If this country (home) is supposed to be my castle where do I abdicate? Is Cuba safe now, oh yeah someone named Castro's still in charge, just not Fidel.

It does't matter how long you give some people to do something, they will never be ready. It will get done quick fast and in a hurry when the TV picture disappears.
