Eastern Carolina finally gets a break from Old Man Winter this upcoming week. Last week the jetstream was digging a trough over the eastern half of the country resulting in unseasonably cold air and snow for the region. That has all changed. The pattern has flip-flopped now...with a trough of low pressure in the western United States and a building ridge in the east. So for the next week expect temperatures to be above normal..perhaps well above normal in some cases...(normal is low 50s for highs). The mercury could be nearly 20 degrees above the average a couple of days. Rain chances will be few..with perhaps some drizzle and low clouds Tuesday...then another chance of showers might be possible Thursday...otherwise pretty dry the next several days. Overnight low temperatures will stay above freezing until further notice...so it will be interesting to see if some of the grass and plants start getting a little happy. Will not be long until spring!
