How Would You Fix The Economy?

There are many suggestions about how to fix the ailing economy. What would you do?

There are many suggestions about how to fix the ailing economy.  What would you do?

Do you think bailing out banks, insurance companies, the auto industry, and homeowners will help?  Do you think those plans will make things worse?

What about regulating the oil industry, which fuels our economy?  Would that help?  How about another stimulus check for taxpayers?

What about doing nothing?

If you had a say in how to handle the economic crisis what would you propose?

I have a simple suggestion to help the economy that would not cost government and put cash into the economy. Eliminate the Mortgage Transfer tax on refinancing. People who are thinking of refinancing to lower interest rates and are not due to high closing costs would have no reason not to. This would put more money monthly in homeowners pockets immediately. Its an unfair tax to begin with since a refinance is not really a transfer of the mortgage, the same person is holding it. Banks would just need to record the lower rate, and if its done with the same bank holding the original mortgage it would be simple. Just think someone moving from 5.5% rate to 3.5 would save a fortune monthly.

First of all it is so stupid that we re 4 trillions dollars in debt and the politics people who put us there are making 6-digits. I think their pay should get cut back to the average amount that american that american taxpayers get paid. Also the entire system is stupid because their is lazy people who just sit around and wait for their government checks. Medi-cade should get cut and the money that gets cut should go to education so people are smart enough to get a job so they don't need medi-cade. And the people who should be able to qualify must be over 18,have recently had a job but got laid off, and have no money whatsoever coming in.

If the federal government would start a small business loan program from the bail out or TARP funds to small businesses - this could possibly kick-start the banks into 'competing' with each other to lend to small businesses again. Again, economy fixed.

The US government needs to take the received bail out monies, set up a giant small business loan program with it & start loaning money to the small businesses. Economy fixed.

No taxes of any form for 3 to 6 months. This 1. Restores Consumer Confidence (Spending) 2. Creates jobs (More Operation funds) 3. Helps Credit Crisis 4. Interest rate increase (savers/investors) 5. No need to wait for stimulus check 6. Banks have more money from savers/investors to lend out. 7. No need to print or borrow any more money. Not all the reasons but you get the idea. For the long run, Government should manage funds(taxes) better, prevent wastage and concentrate on better infrastructure for the long run. Like what the president said, we ALL have to work together. That includes the government.

    1. Control corpoate greed- This is the main reason we are in this jam. Everyone wants a piece of the pie, why should they have the whole pie, 2. Laboe unions haave outlived their usefullness- reign in salaries to reflect reality. Isn't it better to have 10 people working at 20/hr than 9 working at 21/hr. 3. Illegal immigration- crack down on firms that hire cheap labor, make them pay a living wage, fund transportation programs so that inner city workers can get these jobs. 4. Education - Demand excellence in the classrooms so that we can keep up with the global ecocnomy. 5. Infrastructure- transportation, highways etc- We are a joke- get with the 21st century 6. National free website for job searching. Unemployed Americans need to be able to freely access the tools to get back on track. Debt forgiveness- Bailing out the bad loans helps the banks but not the consumer. These debts are being sold to other institutions. Banks are double dipping while consumers are still stuggling.

Give every tax paying head of house hold $100,000.00 taxeable stimulous check. This would equate to around 300 billion dollars. Instant economy jump start. People would pay on their mortgages, buy new cars, go shopping, give to charities, pay their bills and the unemployed would have a jump start to begin a new career.

Hey Dwayne, why didn't U run for Prez??? I totally agree with ya !!! Except if we have to pay tax why not all pay just 5% across the borad. No forms to fill out at the end of the year. Wouldn't matter if you were a corp or a business, or individual, pay you 5%. that would generate lots of $$$. Yes, Yes, Yes, limit, limit, limit those scallyways in Washington. I LOVE to vote ME a payraise! That is soooo assanine and the American people LET them get by with it!

Fair tax. This is the best way to boost the economy now and will provide the fix for the long term. First, it does away with capital gains tax. (encourages investing). Second, it taxes 1.3 trillion dollars that is not being taxed now (hookers, drug dealers, illegal imigrants, ect).Third, it bring back trillions of dollars that is sitting in off shore account because of our current tax codes. Most of all, small business (that drives the American economy) would be able to operate without having to spend so much time and money just preparing their taxes. That money could be spent on healthcare. The US tax laws are over 5000 pages long for a reason. It is time that we take a stand for what is right! I encourage all to go to the fair website and learn more about the solutions that would save this country.

We have a NC lottery, I think the money used for that can come in handy for sure. Why not use the money for the good. We have not seen much of that money being used for the school system, so where does it go? I would have the lottery money fix the schools, and the rest for the Economy. Fix the schools you will have more jobs there, the list goes on and on. The future is there in those schools, help them and up us out also!
