It's not often you get a chance to talk with genuine American heroes. I had that opportunity when I recently talked with World War II Veterans.
I sat down at Cypress Glenn in Greenville to talk with about half a dozen members of "The Greatest Generation." These are the men and women who put their lives on the line more than 60 years ago for the freedoms we enjoy today.
It was a great experience for me to listen to their stories and one I recommend for anyone who has the chance to talk with a World War II veteran...especially today's young people.
These men and women, mostly in their 80's today, tell the stories of how all of America came together at one of its darkest times in history for the common purpose of saving our country. That's exactly what they did.
Now it's time for today's generation to step forward and prove how great it is. Who says that? The men and women who secured our future with blood.
This is the future, and the veterans I talked with say things look pretty bleak right now. But they're also optimistic. Just as they faced down the evils of the world, they believe today's generation will step forward and tackle the crises that face the country today.
