Severe drought conditions have returned to Eastern Carolina.
The latest data shows there are severe drought conditions in Halifax, Hertford and Northampton counties. This as there is a moderate drought now in Bertie, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Pitt, Wayne, and Wilson counties. The rest of the area remains under abnormally dry conditions.
Statewide the number of counties experiencing drought in the state doubled this week to 39. The state says this week's drought map does not take into account the impact of recent rainfall from the past few days.

The crops here look bad. I use to farm and 1980, 83,87,were very dry. This year is worse. We only received,2.5 inches of rain from June 1 to July 29. We did get 1 inch last night. Thank God.
