Authorities say one person died after fire ripped through a home Monday morning in Bertie County.
The fire broke out shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Highway 13 south of Powellsville. Authorities identified the dead man as Lonzie Short.
Bertie County Sheriff John Holley said that the origin of the fire is still under investigation.
The one-story brick home was destroyed by the fire. The fire department says Short used kerosene heaters, but it's not sure that was the cause of the fire.

To Brittany: Don't worry, I'm sure that the heaters are tested before use. From what I read the fire is still under investigation, which may take a while.

i think that the heaters cause the fire because the heaters should be tested before use
