Girl, mother die after electrocution in Rocky Mount motel room

A second person has died after a suspected electrocution at a Rocky Mount motel Monday morning.


It happened around 9:15 a.m. on East 10th Street and Anderson Street near Umstead Residence Hall.


Martinne Delavega is charged with malicious castration and assault causing serious bodily injury.


Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Peace and Justice Plaza Monday night on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, calling for the removal of the controversial "Silent Sam" statue.
